Leverage Your University Affiliation to Boost Fundraising Efforts

July 27, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm UTC-5

Secrets for Success in Crowdfunding

Nonprofit newsrooms based at universities can leverage that relationship to find new supporters that they otherwise would not be likely to ever get.

Join us to learn first-hand about the Arizona State University crowdfunding experiment. Our presenter, Eric Newton will share specifics on running the crowdfunding campaign. More importantly, he will share his thinking about how newsrooms can leverage alumni networks, even if their university is not fundraising on their behalf.

Who should attend?

Those with fundraising responsibilities in university- affiliated newsrooms.

Eric Newton is a global leader in the digital transformation of news. As the Innovation Chief of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications, he drives change and experimentation at Cronkite News, the news division for Arizona PBS. Prior to joining the Cronkite School, Newton was senior adviser to the president of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. He expanded the foundation’s journalism and media innovation program, overseeing the development of more than $300 million in grants. He previously was founding managing editor of the Newseum, the first major museum of news, and managing editor of the Oakland Tribune, where he helped guide the paper to numerous awards, including a Pulitzer Prize.
