INN Teams Up with IRE for Day Focusing on Nonprofits at IRE 2013 Conference

2013ire1RSVP for the day on Eventbrite.

For the past three years, INN and IRE have worked together to create a program specifically tailored to the needs and issues facing nonprofit investigative newsrooms during the annual IRE conference. This year, on Thursday, June 20, 2013 in San Antonio, TX, we will offer a day filled with leaders in the field, workshops, and idea sharing designed to invigorate nonprofit news veterans and interested newbies alike.

Thanks to generous grants by the McCormick and Ethics & Excellence in Journalism Foundations, and with the support of the Investigative Reporters & Editors, we are pleased to announce financial assistance to attend the upcoming INN day on June 20 and the IRE conference June 20 - 23, 2013.

The tentative schedule for the day is below. All attendees of the IRE conference are welcome to join, and box lunches will be provided for those qualifying attendees who RSVP.

Based on feedback from last year’s conference, we are bringing back the lightning rounds in which INN members have 5-10 minutes to share their best practices in areas that are of interest for other members. If you are interested in making a presentation, please email Kevin at kevin.davis@inn.org with your name, the subject or your presentation, and a brief outline. Should we have more submissions than slots, the INN members will be asked to vote on the proposed presentations via a poll in an upcoming newsletter.

As part of the grant from McCormick, there are funds available to underwrite travel and housing costs for INN member organizations in good standing. These funds are for INN members “who otherwise cannot afford to attend.” To RSVP and/or apply for a travel fellowship of up to $1,000 to reimburse actual travel expenses including airfare, lodging and transportation, please email Shelby at shelby.ilan@inn.org. The deadline for returning applications to attend will be Friday, May 17, 2013.
