INN receives grant from Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation for training programs

Encino, Calif., Aug. 31 2015 —  The Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) has received $125,000 from the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation for general support and training.

The grant will help INN provide business training for leaders in member nonprofit organizations. INN is planning at least four regional sessions on best practices in nonprofit management, marketing, legal issues and more.

"We deeply appreciate the continued support of the foundation both for INN and its member organizations," said Brant Houston, chair of INN's board of directors. "The Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation has played — and continues to play — a major role in the growth and sustainability of independent, investigative reporting in the U.S."

The training sessions will help both startup organizations and more mature organizations move toward sustainability through best business practices and diverse revenue development.

"This grant will help us be more responsive to our members' needs as the organizations are growing and changing," said Denise Malan, INN Interim Executive Director and CEO. "We are grateful to the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation for their support of INN and our training programs."

INN plans to release the dates, locations and details about the regional training sessions in the near future.
