INN at IRE Day 2013

The Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE) conference is June 20 - 23, in San Antonio, TX. The Investigative News Network (INN) and IRE are again working together to create a program on Thursday, June 20, specifically tailored to the needs and issues facing nonprofit investigative newsrooms.

8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

The Latest on Philanthropy for Nonprofit News and Media Organizations

9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

A roundtable discussion featuring experts in the national, community and topic-focused foundations and in the crowdfunding space. The experts will discuss the realities and strategies employed by successful nonprofit newsrooms and media organizations serving the public interest.

Best-Practice Lightning Round Presentations

10:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Six INN members will make five- to ten-minute presentations about a key growth and/or revenue driver for their organization. Each presenter will focus on the revenue projections, cost of acquiring the revenue, any risks and the strategic benefit to their organization. Following the presentations, there will be a 30-minute Q&A.

Lunch Break

12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

A boxed lunch will be provided. Note any dietary restrictions when registering.

A Conversation with Google's Dave Gehring

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. 

According to Google’s Dave Gehring, the person now responsible at Google for engaging the news media and having them leverage the full-suite of Google products, “the economics for news is increasingly looking stronger.” INN’s Kevin Davis will have a one-on-one conversation with Dave and explore why and what Google is doing to help. Q&A to follow.

A conversation on INN and public media collaborations: past, present and future, led by Brant Houston.
