Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation Awards INN $200,000 Grant

The Investigative News Network (INN) is excited to announce a new grant from Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation (EEJF). The grant of $200,000 will provide general support and funds to develop a new technology to help foundations support nonprofits by rewarding impact through social networking.

EEJF’s support will allow INN to continue to offer programs that help members increase sustainability and impact in nonprofit, non-partisan investigative journalism.

“Ethics and Excellence has been an amazing source of support for the network,” said Kevin Davis, INN’s CEO and executive director. “We’re grateful for the continued general support from the foundation, and excited about developing a new technology to increase sustainability and impact among our members."

In order to increase INN’s ability to assist members in creating sustainable organizations, the grant will also fund the development of a social sharing tool to measure impact and enable foundation support of members’ journalism. The prototype will first be used to complement INN’s WordPress-powered Largo Project platform. INN members using Largo’s hosted platform will be invited to the initial beta test.

Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation’s mission is to invest in the future of journalism by building the ethics, skills and opportunities needed to advance principled, probing news and information.

INN would like to thank EEJF for its ongoing support of nonprofit journalism.

INN was founded in 2009 to help the increasing number of nonprofit newsrooms pool resources, promote editorial collaborations and get wider distribution of their work. INN is composed of organizations that produce nonpartisan investigative and public service journalism of regional, national and international scope. INN members produce original, multi-media longform and ongoing stories and analyses of public data to better inform the communities they serve.
