Dorothy Kunes Cross Fund

Supporting Women in Journalism

The fund honors Dorothy Cross, the mother of INN executive director Sue Cross. Dorothy Cross was an artist and community journalist who wrote, took photos and helped produce the local Royalton Recorder newspaper in North Royalton, Ohio. She encouraged her daughter to pursue a journalism career.

More than half of the nonprofit newsrooms in the U.S. are founded by and/or led by women. Help us continue to support women’s leadership in our members’ newsrooms.

Your gift will send more than 25 women this coming year to skill-building, leadership training and other opportunities that help them advance and succeed in leadership of public service newsrooms across the country.

About INN:
The Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) is a growing national network of more than 240 nonprofit news organizations dedicated to providing investigative and public service reporting. INN was founded in 2009 to foster a new collective of newsrooms serving the public interest. Today it functions as an innovation network, helping members develop new ways to support journalism and engage communities, providing business, technology and leadership support and a framework for collaboration. INN’s work helps newsrooms bring investigative and civic news to more people, hold the powerful accountable and strengthen democracy.
