Davis Leaving INN

Kevin Davis, the CEO and executive director of the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN), has left the organization.

During a November board retreat, the board voted to refocus its mission and change the name of INN from the Investigative News Network to the Institute for Nonprofit News, partially in recognition of  a new emphasis on its business training programs for journalists who have created, or are creating, nonprofit newsrooms.

"The board thanks Kevin for all of his work to get INN off the ground and running," said Brant Houston, chair of the board. "We wish him success in his future endeavors."

The board is now seeking a CEO who will solidify and build on the innovative programs that have been successful and who will initiate and oversee new and necessary educational programs.

INN will continue to support digital and innovative technologies, networking among its members, and the pooling of resources for cost efficiencies among its members. It will also continue to promote the highest standards in journalism.

INN was created in July 2009 and now has about 100 nonprofit newsrooms as members. Davis joined INN in June 2010 as INN's first full-time employee and leaves INN with an annual overall budget in 2014 of over $3 million and a staff of 10.

Denise Malan, who has overseen editorial collaborations and data analysis for INN, will serve as interim executive director while INN conducts a search for the new executive director.
