2012 Progress Report from the Investigative News Network

Three years ago, a small group of dedicated and experienced journalists gathered in Pocantico, New York to reassert the need to deliver investigative and public service journalism, and to create a consortium of nonprofit journalism centers named the Investigative News Network.

Some of the journalists present had been in the nonprofit sector for years; others were just starting out. But all envisioned a collaborative effort that would create cost savings, find new ways of distribution, and support and ensure the production of high-quality journalism.

As INN enters its third year, CEO Kevin Davis reports that the network has doubled the size of its membership, successfully secured its own 501(c)(3) status, and is fully operational in each of the five key areas of support services: back-office, technology, sustainability, editorial, and social marketing.
